Cygnet IT Services CIC provides IT support and services to education, business and charity customers in Sutton and surrounding areas.
We are looking to re-launch our web-design service and are seeking an enthusiastic Web Designer to work with us and lead this project for an initial 12-month fixed term contract. Should the service re-launch be successful the contract will be reviewed and extended. This is a great opportunity to make your mark!
The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in web design and IT and will have previous experience in both disciplines and be prepared to provide support for the Service Desk when not occupied with Web Design work.
You will lead on providing and developing a web design service (and any other appropriate complimentary services) for our customers and assisting Cygnet in maintaining an up-to-date and effective web presence.
When not busy with web work, you will assist the team responsible for manning our service desk, raising and managing service desk tickets. You will help ensure that ticket information is accurate and that tickets are progressed though the support lifecycle in line with our Service Level commitments.
Duties will include:
-Meeting with clients as necessary to identify their web design requirements.
-Create website proposals and specifications.
-Present initial design ideas to clients as required.
-Design sample page layouts including text size and colours.
-Design graphics, animations and manipulate digital photographs and images.
-Register domain names, manage hosting and public DNS records.
-Designing/coding websites using a variety of software as appropriate.
-Work with and implement different content management systems (CMS) as appropriate.
-Where appropriate use template-based standalone websites and CMS to maximise productivity, output and simplify support requirements.
-Editing content, debugging code and re-designing web pages
-A keen interest in web design, IT and technology.
-Experience of developing/creating standalone and CMS driven websites.
-Experience/knowledge of using and customising website templates, either standalone or CMS driven.
-Experience of image manipulation and optimisation.
-Good understanding of HTML and CSS.
-An understanding of working with PHP.
-Good knowledge and understanding of domain names and DNS.
-Good understanding of SEO concepts and implementation.
-Good understanding of web analytics.
-A pro-active approach to customer service and IT support.
-The ability to work independently using your own initiative as well as part of a team.
-Good written and spoken communication and customer service skills.
-Ability to work under pressure and multi-task.

12-month fixed term contract, full time, 37.5 hours per week.
