As a Principal Architect you will design houses, buildings and other similar structures. These designs are applied to new buildings, renovations, refurbishments and extensions of existing structures.
You will also be central to the process of redesigning, restoring and repairing dilapidated or damaged buildings, including protected buildings, estates and monuments.
As the Principal Architect you will be in charge of the Architecture Design & Interior Arts team and will be involved in the entire construction process, from initial designs, drawings and models of the proposal, to alterations based on client requirements.
You will lead all design work at L’interjekt architecture and manage the Architect design and interiors design teams on a day-to-day basis.
You will work closely with the Senior Architects to collaborate actively with other construction professionals throughout the complete project, providing critical input on the smallest details right up to final inspection and approval sign-offs.
You will also ensure projects comply with local zoning, statutory and regulatory standards for different types of buildings and structures.
During this process, you will be required to bear in mind structural integrity, the surrounding terrain and environmental conditions, optimal utilisation of available space and, not least, the appearance of the structure.
You will develop relationships with related professionals and with clients and also manage the work of other design professionals.
On each project, you will work with the client to determine goals and be ultimately responsible for delivering final schematics and also deliver construction documents to building contractors.
Throughout the process, you will manage the work of other professionals utilizing the senior and graduate architects and drafters within the team to research building codes, make schematic calculations, and draft technical materials. You will also introduce the interiors team and put their services forward as a comprehensive package to the client at the start of the project.
Typically, you will delegate day-to-day contact with clients to the Senior Architect whom you will appoint to project manage the work.
Education & Employment background
You will be licensed and hold a current licence in Architecture.
You will have 8 years plus of experience.
