Job Description

Joinery CAD Designer

Location: Reading

We’re working with a well-established bespoke joinery manufacturer who are looking to bring in a Joinery CAD Designer to support the technical delivery of high-end projects.

This role sits at the heart of the design-to-manufacture process. You’ll be producing accurate, buildable technical drawings that consider tolerances, interfaces, and how everything actually goes together on site and in the workshop.

If you’re confident in AutoCAD, detail-driven, and enjoy working closely with production teams, this is a solid opportunity to get involved in genuinely interesting joinery work.

What you’ll be doing

  • Producing detailed joinery and manufacturing drawings using AutoCAD

  • Allowing for tolerances, fixing methods, and fitting requirements across bespoke components

  • Coordinating designs around mechanical, electrical, AV and IT services, sharing technical information with relevant specialists

  • Understanding the interface between the building structure and the joinery being supplied

  • Adapting drawing styles to suit different briefs, design languages and levels of detail

  • Replicating established design standards and styles where required

  • Working closely with workshop and project teams to ensure drawings are practical, accurate and buildable

Where you’ll be based

You’ll be based from a modern joinery workshop in Reading, working alongside experienced designers and craftspeople delivering bespoke panelling, doors, windows and furniture for high-end residential projects. This is a collaborative, hands-on environment where design decisions genuinely matter.

What’s on offer

  • Competitive salary and benefits package

  • Pension, sick pay and enhanced family leave

  • Increasing holiday allowance with length of service, plus bank holidays

  • Christmas shutdown

  • Employee Assistance Programme

  • Long-term development and progression opportunities within the business

What we’re looking for

  • Strong experience using Autodesk AutoCAD (Inventor experience beneficial)

  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

  • Ability to manage your own workload and juggle multiple priorities

  • Confident hand-sketching ability to communicate early design ideas

  • Clear communicator who can work well with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • Comfortable working independently, but equally effective as part of a team
