What is the purpose of the role?

To be responsible for the design, BOM issue, production, and technical support for a portfolio of products including Traysealer tooling, Distribution Systems, Graders, Bespoke Machinery and Conveyors.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • To be responsible for designs, BOM’s, development work, enquiries and value engineering activities on-time and to the correct specification, hygiene and quality standards.
  • Manage bespoke design products liaising with internal and external customers.
  • Utilising Design for Manufacture and Value Engineering techniques to ensure a smooth transition from design concept into manufacture.
  • Demonstrate high standards of mechanical engineering using 3D CAD design software (SolidWorks) ensuring best design practices and contributing to a continual improvement program.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments.
  • To produce layout, assembly and detail drawings from a sketched idea.
  • To produce costing sheets for proposed designs, parts and assemblies.
  • To produce quotes and equipment selection recommendations.
  • High engineering skill, knowledge and experience in a machine design, being able to deliver detailed design from the concept backed up by appropriate calculations and formula.
  • To ensure full compliance with all relevant regulations, legislation, and customer specific Codes of Practice. Ensure documentation is filed and accessible to meet Technical File requirements.
  • To ensure KPI targets for RFT, efficiency, and cost and service are consistently achieved.
  • Coordinate with the planning team to communicate live updates on the design schedule, to ensure design is on track.
  • To support and assist other team members as required.
  • Establishing good working relationship with assembly teams, planning, purchasing, sales and other key members of all Departments.
  • To undertake all tasks that are commensurate with the post.

 

What skills are we looking for?

You will have a mechanical engineering discipline to HNC / Degree and/or previous proven experience in a similar role, the ability to produce layout, assembly and detail drawings from a sketched idea, have full understanding of relevant Health and Safety regulations, and have excellent problem solving skills. Excellent interpersonal and time management skills to deal with the response time pressures that can arise due to the nature of this industry

You will have good communication skills, be a customer focused team player and possess a flexible, pro-active and methodical approach to tasks.
