Great journeys start with Trainline 🚄

We want to create a world where travel is as simple, seamless, eco-friendly and affordable as it should be.

Today, we're a FTSE 250 company driven by our incredible team of over 1,000 Trainliners from 50+ nationalities, based across London, Paris, Barcelona, Milan, Edinburgh and Madrid. With our focus on growth in the UK and Europe, now is the perfect time to join us on this high-speed journey.

Introducing Design at Trainline
At Trainline, we’re focused on making rail the most convenient, compelling and sustainable way to travel. Design plays a central role in how we deliver on that ambition, bringing together customer insight, creativity and technology to build experiences that people trust, value and return to. Our UX team, led by Will Barker (UX Director, formerly IDEO & Samsung), is committed to building the world’s #1 rail platform. We believe great design doesn’t just improve products, it helps businesses grow, adapt confidently, and continue delivering value as they scale.

The Opportunity
Travel doesn’t stop at booking, and for customers, the quality of the journey experience is often defined by what happens on the day of travel, particularly when plans change.

Within our Travel & Disruptions product space, we’re continuing to build on the momentum of The Way to Train campaign, launched in December, by further elevating how Trainline supports customers before, during and after their journey.

This role focuses on shaping a clear, reliable and reassuring travel experience, helping customers feel informed, supported and in control, even when services are disrupted. As Trainline grows, this space becomes increasingly central to trust, retention and long-term customer value. This design role sits at the heart of that mission.

As a Lead Product Designer, Travel & Disruptions at Trainline you will…
As a Lead Product Designer, you’ll help define how Trainline delivers a best-in-class travel experience, designing clarity, confidence and reassurance into every stage of the journey.

This is a hands-on leadership role, balancing strategic thinking with high-quality execution. You’ll lead design across a set of Travel & Disruptions initiatives that shape how customers plan, travel and respond when things don’t go to plan.

You’ll work closely with Product, Engineering and Data partners to explore, validate and deliver experiences on both Android and iOS apps, ensuring information is timely, interactions are intuitive, and customer needs are at the centre of every decision.

Alongside your individual contribution, you’ll line-manage and mentor designers in this space, setting direction, raising the quality bar, and ensuring experiences feel coherent and consistent across the end-to-end journey.

From early discovery through to experimentation and delivery, you’ll use insight, craft and data to continuously improve outcomes, playing a key role in shaping how customers experience Trainline when it matters most.

We’d love to hear from you if you have…
Proven experience leading Product Design or UX within complex, consumer-facing digital products
Experience designing journey-based, real-time or service-oriented experiences, particularly where clarity and trust are critical
Strong hands-on design skills, with high proficiency in Figma and a passion for craft and quality
