Epicor's products manage manufacturing runs, warehouse operations, supply chain logistics, and retail workflows. The people using them are skilled operators, not casual consumers. Every label, message, tooltip, error state, and onboarding prompt either builds trust or erodes it. Content is not decoration. It's interface.
As a Senior Content Designer, you own the words that shape how people experience Epicor's products. You define voice, terminology, content patterns, and writing standards across product surfaces, including AI-driven experiences where the system speaks on behalf of the software. You work at the intersection of UX, product strategy, and engineering, making sure the language layer is as considered as the visual layer.
Define and maintain content standards across Epicor's product portfolio: UI copy, microcopy, in-app messaging, error states, empty states, onboarding flows, tooltips, and contextual help.
Own the product voice and terminology framework. Ensure consistency across product lines and across human-authored and AI-generated content.
Design content for AI-driven experiences: agent responses, conversational interfaces, system-generated summaries, smart suggestions, and autonomous workflow notifications. Define what the product sounds like when AI is speaking.
Partner with Product Designers, Product Managers, and Engineers as an embedded member of product teams, contributing content strategy from problem framing through shipped outcomes.
Lead content audits and information architecture improvements that reduce cognitive load, eliminate jargon, and make complex enterprise workflows legible to operators.
Create and maintain content guidelines, pattern libraries, and writing documentation that the broader design and product org can use independently.
Advocate for plain language and clarity in a domain where technical jargon and legacy terminology are deeply entrenched.
Contribute to design critiques and reviews with a content lens, elevating the quality of how the team communicates through the product.
Mentor other designers on content thinking: helping them write better UI copy, structure better flows, and consider the language layer as a design material.
5–8 years of experience in content design, UX writing, or content strategy, with shipped work in enterprise software, B2B SaaS, or complex workflow-driven applications.
A portfolio that demonstrates your ability to make complex things clear. You've taken dense, jargon-heavy domains and made them legible to real users.
Strong understanding of how content and interaction design work together. You think about words as part of the flow, not as labels applied after the layout is done.
Experience defining voice, tone, and terminology standards for a product or product portfolio.
Ability to write for multiple contexts: UI microcopy, long-form guidance, error messages, onboarding sequences, and system-generated content.
Active AI fluency in your content practice. You use AI tools for drafting, variation testing, content audits, and terminology analysis as a natural part of how you work. You have strong opinions about when AI-generated copy is good enough and when it sounds generic, robotic, or disconnected from the user's context. You hold the quality bar for how the product speaks, regardless of who or what wrote the first draft.
Clear communication and collaboration skills. You partner effectively with designers, PMs, and engineers, and you can articulate why a word choice matters without being precious about it.
Strong writing craft, UX thinking, and content strategy are the floor. What separates candidates is how they think about content design in a world where AI generates most of the first drafts.
Experience designing content for AI-driven products: chatbots, copilots, agent-generated summaries, autonomous notifications, or conversational interfaces. You've thought about what trust, transparency, and personality mean when the system is doing the talking.
Hands-on experience with vibe coding or agent-assisted development. You've used tools like Cursor, Claude, or Copilot to prototype content-rich interfaces, test copy variations in working code, or build content pattern libraries.
Understanding of how AI agents and protocols like MCP shape the content layer. When an agent acts on behalf of a user, the words it uses carry the product's credibility. You think about how content standards scale to AI-generated experiences, not just human-authored ones.
A philosophical perspective on what AI changes about content design as a discipline. When anyone can generate a paragraph, what makes a content designer valuable? You have a point of view: it's judgment, voice, structure, and the ability to know what not to say.
A pragmatic, fail-fast mindset. You test copy in context, measure comprehension, and iterate based on what users actually do, not what sounds elegant in a spec.
Experience in enterprise domains like manufacturing, distribution, supply chain, or logistics, or a demonstrated ability to learn complex operational domains quickly.
