UX/UI Designer (Contractor)

About The Job

We are looking to recruit a UX/UI Designer to join us on fast moving, innovative and influential work that is underway in the Defence and Security Sector.  

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct user research through usability testing, and data analysis to understand user behaviours and needs.
• Translate research insights into user journeys, personas, wireframes, and prototypes.
• Design intuitive interfaces that align with brand guidelines and accessibility standards.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, developers, and stakeholders to define requirements and refine solutions.
• Create high‑fidelity mockups and interactive prototypes using industry‑standard tools.
• Iterate on designs based on feedback, testing results, and performance metrics.
• Contribute to and maintain design systems, ensuring consistency across products.
• Stay current with design trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in UI/UX.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Strong understanding of user‑centered design principles and methodologies.
• Proficiency with design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or similar.
• Experience with component based design (React).
• Experience designing interfaces for mapping, navigation, and/or planning software
• Ability to create dashboards, user flows, and interactive prototypes.
• Solid visual design skills, including layout, typography, and color theory.
• Experience conducting or supporting user research and usability testing.
• Ability to present and explain design decisions clearly.
• A portfolio demonstrating UI/UX design work and problem‑solving approach.
