Freelance Network | Mid-Senior UI Designer
We are looking for an experienced Freelance Mid-Senior UI Designer to support our
Experience Department and help shape thoughtful, high-quality digital experiences for
upcoming projects.
About the Role
This role is hands-on and varied. Youʼll work across websites and digital products,
collaborating closely with designers, strategists, and developers to create work that is
clear, scalable, and beautifully executed. We move at pace, care deeply about craft, and take real pride in delivering outstanding work.
The work
Youʼll support a mix of:
➔ Website redesign projects
➔ Website reskin and UI refresh work
➔ UI audits and optimisation
➔ Ongoing UI support through retainers
➔ Digital products that sit alongside websites
This includes B2B websites, products and intelligent experiences.
What youʼll bring to the role
Youʼre a confident UI designer with a strong visual eye and a practical mindset.
Youʼre forward-thinking in your approach to design, staying on top of emerging trends,
tools, and opportunities.
You enjoy using technology to streamline workflows and explore how AI and intelligent experiences can elevate designs, both in how we work and what we create.
Youʼre genuinely fluent in Figma. You enjoy building thoughtful, componentised design systems using auto layout, variants and styles, and you design in a way that supports smooth design-to-code workflows.
You have experience designing forB2B environments across complex journeys and multiple audiences.
You think beyond static screens. You design interactions, states, and simple motion, and you use
prototyping to clearly communicate intent and behaviour.
Youʼre collaborative by nature and enjoy working with developers, designing with
build in mind and iterating confidently within technical frameworks and CMS
constraints.
You work closely with UX designers, and strategists, getting involved early and helping turn ideas, insight, and strategy into clear, usable UI. You like shared thinking, open conversations, and building things together.
Accessibility is part of how you work. You design with WCAG AA standards in mind from the start, creating inclusive interfaces with clear focus states, strong contrast, and accessible layouts.
Youʼre comfortable working in agency environments and understand the realities of time allocation, budget, and delivery. You adapt your approach to suit each project while keeping quality high and work moving forward.
Experience weʼre excited about
➔ Strong UI portfolio with website and digital product work.
➔ Experience designing for WordPress sites.
➔ Bonus experience with Webflow, Shopify or headless CMS setups.
Who youʼll work with
Youʼll work with Hallamʼs Experience team, a tight-knit group across UX, UI, and
development with big ambitions and high standards. Weʼre always innovating, pushing
boundaries, and working closely together to make work thatʼs thoughtful, scalable, and
well-crafted. We take the work seriously, not ourselves, and we care deeply about
strong design systems, smooth delivery, and doing great work for our clients.
About Hallam
Weʼre not just some self-obsessed agency promising table tennis and unlimited snacks
in exchange for your soul. And thatʼs why weʼll always show up with something to say,
not just something to sell.
We share a mission to deliver outstanding work with purpose. Weʼre here to do
business in a better way: to work hard to do the right things, not only for our clients but
our people and the world around us.
Work should exist to make life better and we are a great place to work. Hallam has
been chosen by its employees as one of the best places to work, and in the top 40

board game nights to agency trips out to a post-work tipple(s).
Whatʼs it like working with Hallam?
Youʼll get to work for a progressive agency that is driven by its people and values, not
just profit. Weʼll set you off on your personalised freelance onboarding program where
youʼll get to know us; your point of contact and the experience team as well as how we
do things around here through our proven design operations and processes.
We highly encourage applicants from under-represented ethnic groups and
LGBTQ communities. Throughout the recruitment process, we will strive to make
interviews as diverse and gender-balanced as possible for impartiality. As long as
youʼre qualified, youʼll receive equal consideration for employment regardless of race,
